Yay! I can finally show you lots of photos from the wedding we did in Colorado last October! You may have seen Tec's photos on design*sponge and once wed, but here you will find rare, never before seen shots of all the glamorous things that go on behind the scenes. I thought it would be fun to share some of my "behind the scenes" photos of putting the Colorado wedding together. We got to stay at an amazing ranch house near the event site- um...hours in the hot tub after the work was done, wine, coors, shooting stars, yes.

dunton wedding: other than flowers

The funnest thing about this whole trip was being able to bring out the girls (Annabelle, Nicolette, and Sarah) with me. Since Alethea wasn't able to come along due to a certain large girl quickly growing in her belly, I had to get some additional help. With this crew everything went smoother than I could have imagined. The only hiccups were a flower box shipped to the wrong address and when I locked the keys in the car AFTER WE HAD FINISHED unloading everything on the day of the wedding. Sure we had to wait three hours for the locksmith to get there but all the flowers were out of the car!! I was so grateful for their help and I get teary thinking about how awesome it was. I cried when we had to pack up and go on Sunday morning.

dunton wedding: the bouquet

I had to include a section just for the bouquet. Even the making of it was special. Sometimes in the hustle and bustle of prepping a wedding you don't get to spend the time you want to on making something. I got up really early on Saturday morning to finish it. Nobody else was up in the house, it was completely quiet. The morning chill was in the air. I think I even saw a family of deer looking at me from outside but it might have been a mirage. Just alone with some flowers at one of the most beautiful places I have ever been, it was nice.

The first thing we did when we got to Telluride was walk around and scope out the amazing wild "greenery" to cut for the rehearsal dinner flowers. The weather was completely perfect- warm and clear, and the workspace was a backyard table next to a stream, under the aspens. I had some of the flowers fed-exed over from my supplier in San Francisco, some we clipped, and we picked up some from a local farmer in Dunton who luckily had some late season dahlias, cosmos, and herbs. Each place setting got a personal bud vase which were moved to the center of the table when food arrived. We wanted the flowers for this dinner to be really different from the soft golden celebration for the next night so we chose a selection of darker colors, berries, feathers, and spiky textures. I think it snowed the week after we were there- the force was with us.

a bit of quiet

Valentine's Day was good and tiring. It seems I don't like taking photos of anything we send out or the craziness of the day before. We did mostly pre-orders this year and I liked that. I still feel tired and am really backed up on my proposals but am trying to stay mellow. Two weeks ago I had an emergency room visit that kind of changed my life and I am taking it easier on myself. But it's not easy.

I got out my watercolors and painted some cards for our orders last night. They look lovely with the valentine messages typed on our old-fashioned script typewriter. Tomorrow will be a long day I think.
